Barrel Threading Project with Industry Outsider
I recently had the pleasure of working with Industry Outsider on a cool project: threading a Ruger Charger barrel for a custom build.
To be honest, Industry Outsider is … well, a total Ruger enthusiast. From Ruger 10/22’s to Ruger Chargers, he knows anything and everything about Ruger firearms—inside and out. It’s always exciting to collaborate with someone who specializes in a niche because they often have the most creative and unique projects. This build was no exception. The task was to give a KIDD barrel on a Charger some love—specifically threading it to 1/2×28 tpi.
A Deep Dive into Ruger Customization
After Industry Outsider removed the barrel from the receiver, we met up to get the work started. The project involved more than just threading—the barrel needed to be cut and crowned to align perfectly with the handguard. Precision is key in custom projects like this, but it’s also what makes them so rewarding.
Cut, Crown, and Thread
We got right to work:
1. Cut the Barrel: Shortening it to the desired length for the build.
2. Crown the Barrel: Ensuring clean and precise finishing for accuracy.
3. Thread the Barrel: Adding 1/2×28 tpi threads, a common spec for suppressors.
The result? A flawless fit. The barrel’s break aligns perfectly with the hand guard, creating a sleek, cohesive look that’s as functional as it is aesthetically pleasing.
The Finished Build
Once the work was done, Industry Outsider reassembled the Ruger Charger and sent over some photos. What a beauty! The finished product is a testament to great collaboration and attention to detail. The Charger is now suppressor-ready and looks fantastic.
